Our technology
We use brand new, state-of-the-art, Apple X-serve servers running MacOSX 10.4 64-bit Tiger Server operating system. Dual 2.5 gig Power PC processor computers with 1.5 terrabytes in a full raid hard-drive system.
We have excellent back-up protection of data.
> Firstly with the raid system, which distributes data across the drives so if one fails it can be replaced quickly and easily without any downtime using hot plug-able drive bays.
> Secondly, in the extreme case of a full drive failure, the entire system is automatically backed-up every 24hrs to external drives. A full seven days of daily back-up's are stored so any stage of the previous seven days can be recalled.
Data is everything and we go to extremes to make sure all data is secure and never lost.
In the event of power loss, we use 'Uninterrupted power supply' (UPS) units to deal with short term power loss. As a back-up alternative to lengthy power outages we revert to generators which can supply secondary power indefinitely. Usually we can overcome most power problems and can limit the downtime to only a couple of minutes in any situation..
The Apple X-serve is an incredible sturdy and reliable computer system so our downtime due to equipment failure is extremely rare. We have Apple technicians on call 24 hours a day to solve any problems we may encounter.
Sometimes server maintenance is essential and we try to schedule these in the early hours of the morning when least activity is being registered. Customers are notified via email as to these outages.

If you have a business on the web you most probably will need to do on-line transactions with your customers. It's a convenient method for both yourself and your customer to do business. Fast and efficient.
We recommend PayPal because of it's flexibility and ease of use. Most online merchant accounts are downright expensive to run and tedious to set-up with middle-men all taking fees. If you intend to do hundred's of thousands of $$ per month then a 'bank' alternative is maybe your best option. However, If you are a small business with an average turnover, or just starting out with an on-line business, and on a budget, then PayPal is definately for you.
